♥ Take your Portuguese to a new level in a peaceful, language-immersive environment.
Portuguese Language Retreats
Olá! I am Pedro the creator of Portuguesepedia and I will be your language-immersion facilitator and host. Welcome.
Starting in Spring 2023, I will be hosting 1-week long language retreats on a regular basis.
The retreats consist of small groups of 6-8 people and take place at a cozy retreat homestead located nearby the beautiful Ria Formosa nature reserve (Algarve region, close to Tavira).
These language retreats align with values such as kindness, simplicity, and sustainable lifestyles.
Guided practice and language-immersive day-to-day activities
I will be holding daily workshops to improve participants’ listening comprehension and conversational skills. All practice activities are communication-oriented and don’t follow the traditional classroom approach.
There’ll be plenty of time for leisure activities – indoors and outdoors. The group as a whole has the final word on what the schedule will look like.
However we decide, it is important that we keep it language-immersive and stick to Portuguese as much as possible!
Permaculture and Yoga
There is a beautiful permaculture garden on the premises and a permaculture specialist will be around.
For instance, we can spend time in the garden getting our hands dirty while exploring the principles of permaculture design. We can also harvest veggies to cook our meals.
There will be space for yoga practice and meditation as well. As a participant, you are warmly welcome to propose activities and share your gifts with the group.
Outdoors
The nature around is beautiful and the retreat homestead is located nearby the Ria Formosa nature reserve.
There are traditional villages and fishing towns very close by to visit and learn about local foods and culture, namely Olhão, Fuseta, Tavira, and Ilha da Culatra.

Keep in mind
A language-immersive environment is a key elementto these retreats, that is, your commitment to speaking Portuguese during your stay really matters.
Desirably, participants should at least be at the lower-intermediate level (B1-ish). That said, brave beginners are also welcome.
